History

In 2004, Vic Leupold and Lee Brohel saw a great deal of potential in Discount Windows. When they purchased the business, it was a one-man shop with a big sign that read, “Call XXX-XXXX and we will open.” The business consisted of the old brown jug gas station building and about 1,000 overstock windows on the corner of Ivy and 17th in Junction City. Right away, Vic and Lee created regular hours of operation, put together a 3 salesmen team and hired a bookkeeper to professionalize the business.

On their 10-year anniversary in 2014, Discount Windows had expanded and was providing custom order windows, doors, trim and molding from over 10 major manufacturers. The business had a thriving statewide installation department and was delivering all over Oregon, Southwestern Washington, and Northern California. The 1,000 overstock windows they had begun with had grown to almost 7,000 overstock pieces on site.

Starting as a small supplier of windows for home remodelers, they expanded to providing product and services for new construction as well as residential and commercial contractors. As the company continued to grow, Discount Windows always maintained the principal that all projects are of the utmost importance, no matter the size.

Portland Location

In 2017 Discount Windows expanded again. They opened their second location in Portland and began assembling their doors on site. This made it possible to service the northern part of the state with better and faster service. Discount Windows was also able to increase their window and door inventory, going from just 50 window types on site to over 100 different window styles and sizes on hand. They now carry over 60 styles and sizes of interior and exterior doors, and currently have over 8,500 overstock windows on site.

At the end of 2019 the dream of expanding their Headquarters in Junction City was realized. Discount Windows moved into their new building, expanding their space to over 27,000 sq. ft. This included a brand new 3,000 sq. ft show room for their customers to enjoy, new office space for their team and a large warehouse for product, all under one roof. The extra space allowed Discount Windows to enlarge their inventory capacity again. They now stock thousands of feet of trim in 40 different sizes and styles, and as aways the best prices and service in the northwest. Discount Windows also stocks 2 full lines of window brands manufactured here in the United States. One brand for the price conscious customer looking for the best value window. The second brand being the top-quality vinyl window line on the market today. Milgard windows are great for any project, from new custom home construction to the quick remodel project, Milgard is a name in windows you can trust. Discount Windows now has a dedicated service team that is uniquely qualified to help builders and developers with the precise detail that larger projects demand.

Milgard Patio Door

Patio Doors

One does not have to be a photographer to appreciate the impact that natural light has on an environment. Installing patio doors contributes to sun-drenched interiors, which tend to improve the moods of both residents and guests.

Besides making living spaces more inviting, modern patio doors are made to be increasingly energy efficient. Property owners often choose specially coated, low emissivity (Low-E) glass for their patio doors that reflect ultraviolet rays and improve the heating efficiency of their homes. Others, who live in colder climates, may just use plain glass in their patio doors to let in light and heat. Many of our manufacturers offer patio doors that feature double-pane, Argon gas-filled glass panels that insulate the home and stabilize indoor air temperatures.

While some property owners rely on expansive, picture windows to highlight stunning outdoor views, others find that patio doors represent a more practical option. People love our patio doors because they provide easy access to outdoor living spaces.

They are great for families that have young children, who must be supervised while at play in the yard. Our top-quality patio doors come in a variety of materials such as fiberglass, vinyl, steel and aluminum, and we offer an assorted selection of hardware that adds style and security.

Milgard French Door

French Doors

Traditional French doors feature individual glass panels that are divided in a grid pattern by separators that are called mullions. These hinged patio doors are designed to either swing in or out onto a sunroom or patio.

While French doors add elegance and light to almost any residential setting, a home's interior design and furniture layout must be considered since traditional French doors require space to open and shut properly. Some of our partnered patio door manufacturers also offer sliding French doors. These doors offer the classic look of French doors, but they glide parallel to walls, which saves space and adds design flexibility.

While traditional French doors have true divided light or glass panes, the sliding door version usually consists of two or more large glass panels that have removal mullions. The mullions give the appearance of divided lights that are characteristic of traditional French doors.

Property owners can remove the mullions for easier cleaning. French doors are beautiful home accessories, but they were considered light on security in the past. Modern French doors now feature secure, multi-point locking mechanisms that guarantee that property owners do not have to sacrifice safety for style.

The aluminum frames and panels are thermally broken with a full weather-stripped structural interlock system for improved energy efficiency.
